New Tweeter Technology From Maxxsonics’ MB QUART

Chicago, IL. Jan 1, 2008, Maxxsonics USA Inc. is showing the MB QUART heir to their highly successful Titanium convex dome tweeter technology. MB Quart’s legendary tweeter reputation skyrocketed in the late 90’s lead by the flagship Q-Signature Series. The MB Quart legend is much larger with the recent introduction of the new inverted titanium dome tweeter technology. Called “WideSphere™ Technology”, this tweeter design provides the foundation for new sonic realism.

MB Quart engineers developed new acoustical technology to address the challenges of the unfavorable acoustic conditions found within car’s installation spaces. This new MB Quart tweeter technology specifically addresses and dramatically enhances the tweeter’s dispersion characteristics in off-axis listening positions. The result is the unique WIDESPHERE™ Technology, now featured in two completely new tweeter systems, the new Premium Line Series and the Q Line Series.

Ultra-lightweight, high-strength pure Grade-1 Titanium is standard dome material for tweeters in the MB Quart brand. MB Quart has implemented their own dome geometry for the new inverted, i.e., concave dome type for use in the WideSphere™ Technology. These proprietary titanium inverted domes also incorporate a micro-poly surround and a 20 mm copper voice-coil. The new sophisticated tweeter system design is completely driven by extremely powerful neodymium ring magnets.

MB QUART’s WideSphere™ Technology is not only characterized by its superior off-axis dispersion. WideSphere addresses other usually critical areas also. MB Quart tweeter systems based on the WideSphere™ technology additionally offer these valuable benefits:

- An extremely low free-air resonance of 900Hz allows installation of the new inverted dome tweeters very close to the subwoofer/mid-range system.

- With an almost unbelievable 200-Watt peak load capacity, the traditional lamp-style PTC tweeter system protection, that can adversely affect sound quality, can be omitted.

- Advantageous spatial images accompany the tweeter’s ultra- wide-dispersion angle.

- The new tweeters are extreme linear over their whole frequency range, with no undesirable frequency variations, sound quality, volume level losses or edginess.

The new tweeters based on the new WideSphere™ technology also benefit from MB QUART’s 25-plus years of experience with titanium as the core tweeter dome material. Through MB Quart technology, the metal tweeter dome sharpness has given way to a characteristically silky and spatial listening experience without any negative brilliance effects on the sound quality.
